Team 3D wrapped up 2016 with a 3D art installation for Trollhunters at Universal CityWalk, the new Netflix series by director Guillermo del Toro. Since we’re big fans of Guillermo’s we were excited to create an amazing design for Dreamworks to promote his new animated show.
MAXIMUM EXPOSURE AT CITYWALK
We worked on-site at Universal CityWalk which is always fun during the holidays. Fans and first-timers loved the art, and there was lots of holiday cheer throughout the day. People couldn’t wait to get their photos taken with the characters from the show we depicted! Of course, selfies are ever popular at CityWalk so a 3D Trollhunters street painting was a perfect fit for the venue.
FANS OF THE SHOW
We were hooked after seeing the first episode of Trollhunters. The fun characters, lush visuals, great casting and fluid storyline are perfect for kids (of all ages!) who love a great ‘good vs. evil’ tale. Check out what the director has to say himself about the series here.
3D ART IS UNFORGETTABLE MARKETING
We designed an image of the heroes beginning their journey down to Troll Market using the art style from Trollhunters. This created an interactive way for fans to become part of the painting, as they stepped onto the painted crystal staircase leading downwards. People complete the illusion, which is why 3D art is so much fun for the public!
Dreamworks obviously loved what we could do in the medium of 3D art by calling us to handle the project. We enjoy supporting our ‘local’ clients, especially the creative ones! As always, we were thrilled to deliver the art professionally and on time.
