I love TED…..no really, I love what TED brings to the world through inspirational speakers, intelligent content and always amazing experiences. So when TEDxFoggyBottom director, Brian Doyle, invited me to participate in this years event with a 3D street painting &/or an Augmented Reality installation, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
I’d presented at TEDxSanDiego a few years back and was just blown away by my experience there. That event broadened my ever expanding view of the wonderful people around me, who are doing amazing things right here, right now, for the world at large. To be included in that family has just been an incredible honor for me, which also brings a big, ridiculous smile to my face.
This years event in Washington D.C. was themed ‘Illuminate’. Thinking on this I found that much had happened for me personally, in my life, that falls into that category. The journey has been interesting always, illuminating definitely and inspiring absolutely. Being able to share some of my own story with a curious audience was a terrific way to illustrate that if you have the courage to follow your dreams, your life becomes so much more than you could have possibly imagined – in a really good way!
Anyway, here’s my talk and the image I created for the event. In addition, I showcased something new – a fully animated 3d street painting incorporating Augmented Reality (also known as 4d art), which demonstrated a deeper layer of interaction with visual art through the use of digital technology. That proved to be a big hit and has now propelled me to move forward on developing some exciting new applications for my street painting work.
Thanks again to Brian, Kayla and the entire TEDxFoggyBottom team for supporting street painting; to all the incredible speakers for inspiring ME!; and of course, a very big CONGRATS to all for a fantastic event that served the community and inspired many.
