3d Street Painting in Spain

Ole! Just arrived home from beautiful Pamplona, Spain where I was commissioned to create a holiday marketing 3d street painting for a national  bank, specifically their bank card services. Our site was situated adjacent to the famous Plaza de Torros, where the Running of the Bulls takes place annually. Pamplona is a beautiful city that sits atop a hill over looking the valleys below. Charming cafes, churches, shops and bar/restaurants keep the city pulsing with life and activity.

When we weren’t working, we went out for tapas: it’s the only way to eat (!), be social and enjoy the lively city ambiance. My good pal Sharyn, who assisted on this project, and I had a fantastic time sampling all the great delicacies this region of Spain has to offer. We certainly enjoyed the revueltos (eggs served over potatoes and ham), jamon and mosto ( a grape juice drink served with an olive and orange slice). We had every opportunity to people watch and noticed that Pamplona is a sophisticated city, with cosmopolitan residents who enjoy the good life.

Due to the fact that the temps outside were about 0 to -2 degrees Celsius, we were provided with a tent to protect, that covered our working surface. We added some lights and a couple of floor heaters which made for tolerable working conditions. Needless to say, we were bundled up pretty well to stay warm. Our drawing took about 4 days and was completed mostly with paint as the client hoped to keep the image intact for the course of several weeks through the holiday season. We expected lots of folks to come by and interact with the image by standing on the credit cards so it had to be durable.

We were well cared for by our hosts and were supplied with provisions from the local coffee stand (the hot chocolate was heavenly) along with gloves, scarves and hats! Armed for the worst, Sharyn and I successfully completed the image on schedule and ‘wowed’ the city of Pamplona with their first ever 3d street painting.
