Invited to create a showstopper 3d street painting at the Macon, Georgia ‘Cherry Blossom Festival‘, sponsored by GatewayMacon, I called up my good pal Shayrn Namnath to join in the fun and off to the glorious South we went.
Check out the amazing time lapse that was created on the making of this image!
I love traveling through the south eastern US – Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc.so was excited to enjoy some gracious southern hospitality. Our hosts showed us great local eateries while introducing us to the wonderful residents of this lovely city.
Enjoying the summer weather (+90F!), Sharyn and I set to work on a Monday and by Wednesday afternoon, we had completed this painting in front of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. The theme was based on the Cherry Blossom Festival, which corresponds each year to the blooming of the nations largest array of cherry blossom trees. I used the architecture of the existing site to dictate the painting composition and created a piece that invited everyone to take a stroll. By Friday it seemed that the entire city came out to take part in the photography fun and ‘complete’ the painting.
Here’s a little discussion about the creative process – thanks Terrell Sandefur for the interview!
Thank you Gateway Macon & affiliates for the wonderful experience and care – Karen, Beth, Elliott, Stephanie, Carley, Terrell, Anissa and everyone else on the team I may have missed! A home away from home, Sharyn and I will be back, you can be sure!
Wow. This is incredible. Can it be real???!!!
